TapTap is a mobile game app store with free Asian games for your device. Many of these games aren't available in other countries, but the TapTap platform allows you to download and play games from China, Japan and other Asian nations. While some apps are available in English, the majority are in their original language.

Main Features

TapTap serves as a second app platform where you can find apps to download to your device. The vast majority of apps here are games, but you can also find some productivity and other apps. All of the apps here are from Asian nations. Most of the apps were developed in China, but you can also find apps made in Japan, Korea and more.

While the English version of the Android Play Store has millions of apps, you might be surprised to learn that some are restricted based on your location. For example, there are many games developed in Asia that you cannot download. The default app marketplace won't even give you the option to download them. Even if you're able to find them on the marketplace, you will see a warning saying that the app isn't available in your country.

TapTap bypasses that and gives you thousands of new apps to choose from. Most of them aren't available without TapTap or a similar marketplace. Aside from giving you completely new apps, this has all the major features you expect from an app marketplace. You can find apps by searching for them, going through categories, and it will also recommend apps based on your search history and downloads. You can also read through reviews to see if the app lives up to your expectations.

Translations

TapTap is primarily used by people in the various Asian countries. This means that many of the apps are made in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other similar languages. Not only that, but most of the reviews written by users are also in these languages.

If English is your only language, then you may have some problems when using apps or reading through reviews. TapTap does offer machine translations, but this is only for app descriptions. The reviews won't be translated. You can copy and paste them into a third-party translator. The apps may offer an English translation, but most do not offer this option.

Usually Convenient Downloads

The app downloads from TapTap are usually convenient and easy. Just like with any other app marketplace, you simply tap the Download button and the app will download and install to your device. The desktop version of TapTap requires that you scan a QR code, but the mobile version bypasses this and makes the downloading process a little easier.

It's important to note that apps from TapTap will immediately install. If you've used secondary app marketplaces in the past, then you might know that sometimes the app only downloads. It then expects you to manually initiate the installation. That can be annoying, especially if you don't know where to find the app files. TapTap makes this easy and functions like a real app marketplace by immediately installing the apps.

While this is convenient, some apps will require that you sign up with a social media account. The problem is that these normally aren't global social media networks like Facebook or Twitter. They are instead Asian-specific social media networks. These websites are sometimes difficult to access while others might restrict your access due to your location. You can usually get an account so that you can access the app, but this may sometimes be a barrier.

Game Previews

Sometimes an app has amazing images that make it look fantastic. But then you'll download the app and it doesn't live up to your expectations. While TapTap can't entirely prevent this, they do show you game previews and gameplay to reduce the chances of this. You can see what the game looks like and if it's really fun or not.

Nearly every app has detailed previews that you can see. This might be images or videos. Make sure to check these out before downloading the app. While you can easily uninstall the game if it isn't fun, no one wants to waste their time playing a bad or boring game.

Intuitive Interface

The TapTap interface is easy to navigate and very intuitive. There are five different sections that you can navigate through. The Home section shows a collection of new apps, recommended apps and many different categories. The Library section shows you all the apps that you've downloaded in the past.

The Rankings section lets you see which apps are ranking best with users. You can easily segment this by category like RPG, action, platformer and so on. The Discover section shows you the newest apps, trending apps that are getting lots of downloads and collections that match your previous downloads. The Moments section really looks at your history and recommends apps and even community groups that you might enjoy.

Be sure to check through all the sections and you should find apps that you'll love. Like with most other app marketplaces, the recommendations get better as you download more apps. That allows TapTap to learn about what you like.

Community Oriented

TapTap cares deeply about its community. The marketplace is heavily reliant not only on the number of downloads from users, but also reviews and rankings that users leave after downloading the apps. Users can also form groups, make friends, follow other users and have their own message board.

This is good because it ensures that games are ranked properly based on how good they are. It's also fun for users because you have a real community that you can enjoy. At the same time, non-Asian speakers might struggle with this. While you can enjoy the benefits of how real rankings make it easy to find good apps, it might be difficult to speak with other users. Reviews and messages aren't directly translated by the app, so you'll need to use a third-party translator if you want to speak with users.

Those who can read and write in Chinese, Japanese or Korean may find this app more engaging. Chinese is the most common language found on TapTap, but many users are from other Asian countries as well.

Constantly Growing

Some secondary app marketplaces are released with hundreds or thousands of great apps, but then they never grow and add new apps. That's not a problem for TapTap. This marketplace is always growing as new apps become available. Many game developers upload the apps directly so that you can enjoy them.

While this is smaller than Android's default app marketplace, there are thousands of apps to enjoy and the number is constantly growing.
